Overall I'm a happy person with lots of Love :) If you genuinely want to get to know me, then let's chat!1355 characters left (min 40) Not sure what to write?Getting started›What you say about yourself speaks volumes. First of all, don't panic! It's a profile, not a life history. And it is meant to reflect something about you, so unless you are a prize winning author, people won't be expecting a literary masterpiece. Keep it light and friendly, and avoid adding anything negative. Never include your last name, email address, home address, phone number, place of work or any other identifying information in your member profile or initial messages. Everyone wants to meet an honest person. It is extremely important that you portray yourself in an honest light from the very outset - starting with your profile. If you spend too much time trying to be something you think others will be attracted to, it will eventually come back to haunt you. The ones you want to meet don't expect perfection. In fact if someone seems too good to be true, they probably are. So be honest, be yourself and start off on the right foot. The more people know about you, the more comfortable they will be initiating conversation with you. So make sure you write a detailed profile. Thought starters›Be specific. The key is to paint a broad enough picture of yourself while providing as much detail as possible about your personality, likes and dislikes without sounding like you are reciting a list. There are a lot of intelligent, attractive, fun single people out there who write things like "I like to watch movies". What does that tell you about them? It's almost better to see someone say, "I don't like watching movies." At least you learn something useful about them this way. If you like movies, give examples. Are you into Dumb & Dumber, foreign films, horror or documentaries? Adjectives like: nice, smart, kind, warm, funny, honest, successful, ambitious, family-oriented - don't really help define who you are, and does nothing to separate you from the rest. Explain what makes you who you are. Use adjectives and add detail, i.e., "I'm a playful 32 year old architect who likes to relax by reading mystery novels."Elaborate on the "why's". You might think you're writing something specific when you list your interests: "hiking, biking, movies, music, travel," but really - don't most people like this sort of stuff, too? If you're going to mention something, make it as specific as possible. Where do you hike? What's was your best holiday experience and why? What's the city you're just dying to visit one day - and why?Ask yourself "Can anybody else say the same exact thing?" You want a person who is honest? You like to laugh? You hate game playing? To stand out from the crowd, for a better result, come up with a more creative way to express these same sentiments.Leave the cliches to everyone else. It's cool that you "work hard and play hard", are "equally comfortable in a little black dress and a pair of jeans", "love staying in and going out" and "are looking for your best friend and partner in crime", but so is the next person on my search list. And the next person. And the next... What do you work hard at? What takes up your spare time and why do you find it so enjoyable. What character traits should this "best friend" have, and once you meet them, what type of things would you enjoy doing? What special occasions do you slip into that little black dress for and what activity calls for pulling out the old jeans?Watch the bragging. You can talk about yourself at great length without sounding like you're showing off, but it's a fine line. Avoid subjective evaluations such as "I'm very attractive/intelligent/funny" and focus on illustrating the same points. Your picture will let me know that you're attractive. Your grammar and diction will indicate that you're intelligent. Your humour will come across in how you write your profile. Show me, don't tell me.One word: spell-check. Write your profile on a Word document, spell-check it, then cut and paste it onto the site. Common mistakes to avoid: "a lot" is two words, "definitely" doesn't have an "a", and you're is a contraction meaning "you are".Tell the truth. If you don't, you're destroying any future trust you may have tried to build up, and you're giving all the honest online daters a bad name.Come across optimistic. Write in an upbeat style. Similarly, don't apologise for posting a profile. Be positive and assertive.Profile etiquette›Need help to get you going? Here are some questions to help you construct that perfect profile. Remember: be sincere and honest. Write like you talk. Show your personality. What are your five most positive characteristics? If you're unsure, ask a good friend or family member how they'd describe you and why.Have you done much travelling? What's your favourite place and why? Do you have any interesting stories to share? Where would you like to travel to next and in what style? What does an ideal weekend involve? Perhaps reading the papers, followed by brunch, then a leisurely walk along the beach collecting sea shells. Or are you the energetic type that needs to cram in maximum thrills?Your favourite food? Can you cook and if so, what does the ideal meal consist of?Your music interests and why? Who are your favourite artists? What's your preference - a night out on the town or something more sedate? What makes a perfect night out or in?How important are family and friends? Do you spend much time with them? Do you have children - if so, what ages? What sports do you participate in and how often? Perhaps you're more of an armchair sports fan? What are your favourite teams and why? What type of work do you do and how much time do you spend on it? How important is it to you? Do you like your job or are you planning on a new career this year? Remember to keep it positive.Example of a good profile›Once you get past the accent that's one part Aussie, one part Canadian, a pinch of German and mixed well with more than 50 other countries, you'll probably work out that I am a study of, what I think, intriguing contrasts. My days of incessant wandering of remote four corners of the world with my few life savings stuffed in my worn backpack ended in my early thirties when a homeless kitten made me 'mom'. Of course, she needed a companion, so I suddenly had two reasons to adjust to a more stationary life. A few years later, two gorgeous lab puppies made that four, yet the labs were purely selfish additions, as I wanted someone to talk to while kayaking. Naturally, there are times when I crave the glamour of a night out, slinky dress, heels in an idyllic spot sipping a glass of red before dinner, but those cravings are getting fewer. These days I tend to prefer the picnic affair beside some picture-perfect lake - with the crystal glass of red sensibly replaced by a plastic tumbler! The type of guy that I'm attracted to is one who still thinks about 'what am I going to do when I grow up', whether richly successful or not. It's the type of guy who's not fixated with "I hate my job" but does nothing about it. I guess it's the type of man who see's the glass being half full rather than half empty. The right man not only fascinates me but also brings out the best in me. We push each other to be the greatest people we can be. We bolster each other's egos and we leave short, thoughtful messages for each other when we're away on business trips - ok, so the latter may be a bit OTT, but that's what a wish list is for. If you're comfortable in your own skin, have a strong sense of self and aren't afraid to expose your flaws, I'm sure we'll get along just fine. cancel Working...This task is taking longer than expected
